Why Choose Tony Langford Roofing for Your Metal Building

Metal building construction requires the same precision, planning, and quality control as any major roofing project — and that’s exactly what we bring to every build. As a trusted name in Texarkana for decades, we handle your metal building project from initial design through final construction, with the same commitment to quality that’s made us a name Texarkana families and businesses rely on.

Whether you need a metal shop for personal use, a commercial structure for your business, or a custom building designed around a specific need, our team manages the project from start to finish — no subcontracting the details out and hoping for the best.

The Roof Is the Part That Decides How Long It Lasts

A metal building is, structurally, a frame and a skin. The frame is the part people ask about and the part that almost never fails. The skin — specifically the roof plane and everything penetrating it — is what determines whether you are happy with the building in twenty years.

That is a useful thing to have a roofer in charge of. The details that go wrong on metal buildings are roofing details: end laps sealed badly or not at all, exposed fasteners driven crooked or overtightened so the washer deforms, closures left out at the eave and ridge, and penetrations for vents and flues cut in afterwards by whoever needed them and flashed with a tube of sealant.

None of those show up in the first year. All of them show up eventually, usually as a stain on something expensive stored underneath.

Condensation: Plan for It Before You Build, Not After

The most common complaint about a new metal building in this climate is water dripping from the underside of the roof on a morning when it has not rained. That is not a leak. It is condensation forming on cold steel in humid air, and in Texarkana’s summers there is a great deal of humid air.

It is straightforward to design out and expensive to retrofit, which is why it belongs in the conversation before the slab goes down rather than after the first cold snap. What it needs is a plan — insulation and a vapour retarder appropriate to how the building will actually be used, and ventilation that matches.

How the building gets used changes the answer entirely. An unheated equipment store and a heated workshop with a compressor running in it are different problems, and a building specified for the first will disappoint you as the second. Tell us what is going inside it and how often anyone will be in there.

  • Decide the use before the design — heated, unheated, occupied, storage only
  • Settle insulation and vapour control at design stage, not as an afterthought
  • Plan every roof penetration you know you will want, including future ones
  • Agree who is responsible for the slab, and confirm the sequence before anything is ordered
  • Check what permitting your address requires; inside the city limits is not the same as outside them

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you build outside the Texarkana area?

This service is offered in the Texarkana metro area. Our roofing work covers a much wider region across East Texas, Southwest Arkansas and Southeast Oklahoma, but metal building construction is deliberately kept local — a build involves far more site visits than a re-roof, and stretching it further would mean doing it worse.

Do you handle the slab, or do I arrange that?

Talk to us early and we will walk through the sequence with you, because getting it in the wrong order is the most common way a build loses weeks. What is included varies with the project, so this is a conversation rather than a standard answer.

Can you put a metal building up on land I already own?

Usually, but the site decides a lot — access for delivery and equipment, drainage, and what your address requires by way of permitting. Inside the city limits and out in the county are not the same process. We will tell you what we find rather than discovering it halfway through.

How is this different from a metal roof on a house?

The materials overlap and the detailing discipline is identical, but a building is a whole structure rather than a covering, so design, foundation and permitting all come into it. If what you actually want is a metal roof on an existing house or commercial building, that is our metal roofing and commercial metal roofing work instead.
